High Functioning Sociopath (HFS)

So you people are probably wondering who HFS is. Well she's a friend of mine who was originally gonna get the very cool name Baroness von Fulkerson but nooooooo. She (okay there is a kinda sorta reason I said 'yes' too) She just had to be 'High Functioning Sociopath'. And because it's a pain to type HFS is the abbreviated term.

Behind The Name

Sherlock. She got me into the show and in episode one of the first series "A Study in Pink" Anderson is corrected by Sherlock that he's not a psychopath but a 'High functioning sociopath.' (Do your research!) And well, for some other odd reasons she and I decided that her being HFS is pretty okay. (But I'll be damned is Baroness wouldn't be more fitting and cooler).

This also gives her an excuse to refer to me as 'Freaking watson Junior' which is a very long story in which I'll not tell you any right now. But if I get people in the comments besides her calling me that there will be hell to pay.

A Bit of This and That.

So some Monday random.

*Sherlock, I'd like to correct my friend who in comments is the 'High Functioning Sociopath' We have TWO episodes to go in Sherlock. 2.

*I would be posting my vacation pics but alas I've lost the effing camera to computer cord and I'm really F***ing annoyed!!!

* 'High Functioning Sociopath' (who would otherwise have an awesome name if she/I hadn't insisted on that name. I might abbreviate to HFS.) Would like me to comment on the show Merlin. A newer telling of the Legend of King Arthur. I do enjoy the show more than I had thought I would. It's actually really nice. (Fan fics, Can't you just see them? *cough cough* Inside joke for HFS.) ;) HOWEVER, nylon shirts, skimpy tops, Morgana's halter top, chain mail, armor, a NON-FRENCH Lancelot du Lac, the color red EVERYWHERE, polyester blends, are just a FEW of the problems I have with the show, (had to mention the HFS. And you need to read the friggen Legend anyway SO YOU KNOW WHO MORDRED IS JEEZ! (The Mists of Avalon work too) just find out more of the original telling okay?)

*With HFS I've got four more episodes of Jane Eyre to go.

*I'll do a longer vacation post later.

*I went to look at the boats in Valdez and wanted to report some of the cooler named ones: The Dawn Treader, Shadowfax (bonus points if you can name where those names are from HFS, your answers don't count.) Merlin, Killin' Time, Enterprise, Infinite Grace, Morning Light, The Boat, Freedom Dancer, Knot Again, Wind Musher, My Boat, Jade Dolphin, The Half Cup, and English Maiden are just a few.

Sherlock

So I've recently decided to try and watch the new Sherlock television programme. While I'm partial to Jeremy Brett playing one of my favorite detectives. I've decided to give Benedict Cumberbatch a try. I've so far made it only to 'A Study in Pink' (based on the story A Study in Scarlet by Connan Doyle.) But the show seems promising. It's certainly a modern and new twist but somethings about written Sherlock still hold true. The drugs are there, violin playing, Mrs. Hudson, Watson, and of course, 221b Baker St. However, there are some twists to which the show is different and intriguing.

Watson, for example still records Sherlock's doings, but in the form of a blog.

Then there are some, well even stranger things that Sherlock does, there's the eyeballs in the microwave, bloody thumbs in the fridge, and the skull. Well throw in "High functioning sociopath." (as Cumberbatch put it.) and you've got the modern Sherlock.

Each series contains three 1 1/2 hour episodes. I'm trying out number two. The show also has elements of humor, making the show less serious and more of a family program. I shall keep you updated.

Camping

Yes that's right, camping. The great outdoors, the feeling of one with nature, the mosquitoes. Yep the mosquitoes are killer this year. They are EVERYWHERE. (for some reason the image of the urbanite with a bag full of bug spray comes to mind. Either that or Niles Crane spraying bug dope everywhere.) But the mosquitoes are really bad. Plus if you add on the fact there are forest fires and that means road detours this is gonna be one very long trip. It's also supposed to be cloudy on Monday when we're leaving and that'll be nice since it'll stay cool(er). It's been getting up to ninety in the shade and that's been real tough on a gal who's only ever really been used to 70-80 degree summers. But the scenery will be nice considering how we'll be driving from interior Alaska to southern Alaska.

We're going to Valdez, a port town in southern Alaska known for it's tourist appeal and the fact it's main industry is fishing. Luckily since it's by the ocean the summer there will be more moderate. But it also entails a higher chance of rain. But the fishing industry is (as Mr. Spock would say) fascinating.

The smoke from the fires makes everything a bit hazy and orange-y. Much to my chagrin as it makes it harder to breath. That's always swell huh? The heat has also not helped this problem by making it muggy in the area where I live. Still making it hard to breath. I've been staying inside and avoiding being eaten alive and breathing in forest fire smoke. It's also ridiculously hot. Sleeping in a t-shirt is what I've been needing to do.

But whilst camping I'm not without the few things I'll need badly, notebook and pen, ipod and headphones, The Help by Kathryn Stockett, and aspirin for my head. And maybe for the drive a thermos of hot tea could be nice.

My Anniversary!

This month is the anniversary of the creation of this blog! I've been here almost an ENTIRE YEAR! Happy aren't you? Woot woot! I can't believe I made it! Never thought I would. I thought it'd be one of those two month things then over but no! I thank you all. But it's been no bed of roses, no pleasure cruise*. I'm gonna stop there. But yeah! I'm kinda excited. I'll talk a bit more about it tomorrow. I've got to go make celebratory chocolate chip cookies.

My Hiatus

Sorry about that. I decided to take a break from blogging for the month and never got around to telling you guys. But yeah, all my blogs have been dormant for quite a bit and I'm sorry but I needed a break. But now onto the actual stuff you wanted to read...

Well it's the time again where the whole meaning of a 'holiday' as it were is totally taken to shambles by the commercial industry shoving goodwill erm... products and making money. Well Easter is one prime example. Nowadays people get excited over the prospect of candy and not the prospect of the fact that this is when Christ died so we can get into bleedin' Heaven. We're losing the true meaning of holidays especially Christian ones. Especially in our world of morally loose people, religion seems to come second to bodily pleasures when it should be the other way around.

Okay I'm gonna stop now because I just don't feel comfortable putting religious opinions out there. Sorry.

can be hard.
The muse that is with us
Seems to dissipate sometimes.
Sometimes I would love to stop
But love you all too much.

But I always come up with something.
Comments are great
They make me feel good.
Like I have something worth saying.
Something good enough to talk about.

Austen

Well I'm trying to read Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen. I gave Pride and Prejudice a try but I didn't have to real concentration to read it. The one and only problem with P&P was the scenes with all the Ms. Bennets because they could all be having a conversation and Austen would be all "Ms. Bennets said to Ms. Bennet...Then Ms. Bennet replied to Ms. Bennet." and you would have no idea who was talking to who. I was like, "Ms. Austen there is more than one Ms. Bennet! Please let me know who the heck is speaking!"

So I'm gonna give her one more shot. Wish me luck.

Pinch O' This Pinch O' That

1. Sorry, I haven't posted. My internet's been down.
2. You know that old tune, "Wont You Come Home Bill Bailey"? Well some times the school district will call and the person who runs FNSB is named Bill Bailey... Makes me laugh every time.
3. I've recently gotten a Kuring Coffee maker.  It is a wonderful miracle from the future. It's so nice to have. I love the fact that I can make coffee, tea, cocoa, and cider using it. It's so much easier than making a whole pot of drip then throwing half of it out.
4. I'm beginning to run out of space on my bookshelves. I'm going to have to begin stacking my books on the floor again. I have 300+ books and only two shelves. So I'm at a loss. If any of you have creative ideas on how to do makeshift book shelves let me know. Because I'm not going to buy a new one.
5. When I comes to my writing I've learned my crutch is Science Fiction. I can't write anything else. I don't know why but when I try to write anything else it doesn't come out well. But I'm one of the best damn Science Fiction writers you'll ever read. Check out my latest story, "Hiding" on Wattpad. Warning, "Hiding" is a PG-13 story and uses swear words. So if you're against swearing don't bother.

Ten Interview Questions To Ring In The New Year!

1. If you could travel to any part of the world where would it be?
 I would love to travel to Ireland, I'm part Irish and I'm facinated by the Celtic culture. Ireland is also a beautiful country and so green. It has many interesting landmarks too.

2. Do you have any major aspirations in life?
I would love to publish a book. Either f my short stories or a full length novel. However, I have a hard time prolonging plot without the book becoming tedious. 

3. Are you an honest person or do you shade the truth to suit you?
 I'm generally honest. Obviously there are things I don't tell anyone. But I don't lie for personal gain or to be spiteful. I might lie though, the protect someone from being hurt.

4. Is there a part of your body that you would like to improve?
 No...yes...no, I mean we all have things we want to change but God created me this way and I should be happy I'm here on this Earth. So I have no real qualms with how I look.

5. Do you have any unusual health problems that make life hard for you?
 No. No, none. I mean except for the fact that my life is sort of crazy.

6. Would you ever devote your life to those less fortunate than you?
 Yes, I would. It's important to help those who can't help themselves. I would give up everything I had and devote my life to those kind of people.

7. Do you know your ancestry? What nationalities are you?

 Yes I do know my ancestry, I'm Scottish, Irish, French, German, Hungarian, and Polish.

8. Do you read books in your spare time? If you do, then do you read the classics at all?
YES YES YES! I love classics, Jane Eyre, The Picture of Dorian Grey, Pride and Prejudice, Anne of the Green Gables.

9. Do you like to watch sci-fi movies and programs, because they stretch the mind in different ways than other genres do?
 I love to watch them but not because they stretch the mind.

10. Do you watch the Super Bowl each year?
 I'll give you one simple answer: NO!

Auld Lang Syne

Well it's been a great year... Well almost a year anyways... So I started this blog in June, it's been a year. Well everyone, it's been a swell year. I'm grateful for every reader and page view. I mean without the readers I wouldn't have kept writing this blog. Sure I slacked off until November but I won;t do that again I promise. So those of you reading hear this! so you read a blog and others and you look at he consistency of the posting. Well, you think, I can do that! That's what I thought in April, easy, I thought, what's so hard about writing on almost a daily basis. I have LOTS of ideas to share...I THOUGHT. If you go back a ways you'll see I ran out of ideas more than once. It's HARD. You don't think that when you read my posts do you? NO you think, oh that;s not so hard just write down your opinions and thoughts. It's a lot more than that. You have to make sure it's interesting to all. That's why I avoid Dr. Who and Star Trek filled posts. You have to make sure the posts don't offend anyone. I didn't realize how hard it was. You need to find inspiration and interesting topics, fun stuff and things people will be interested in. I salute you veteran bloggers and will one day join the ranks, I hope. I'm amazed at those bloggers who have blogged for 5+ years I'm amazed that they haven't run out of things to talk about or haven't become redundant. I pray the new year will bring me all sorts of inspiration and new ideas/topics to blog about. I promise not to slack off like I did. Happy New Year every one.

Here I am again.

Well I'm sick again. I've got a cold. I've been reading Jane Eyre and Mr. Rochester has finally shown up at Thornfield. I've also been watching a lot of "Andy Griffith." IT is really relaxing. Hey, ever noticed how when you're sick your house just goes to ruin? I mean all you strive for just goes to hell. That's not the point though.

Thanksgiving is really soon. I hope I'm better by then. because my mother, father, brother, and my cousin and his girlfriend are all planning to have dinner together. It's all one big fiasco. I feel the pressure and hassle of the day coming but oh well. See ya tomorrow.

On Writing...

Ever noticed how hard it is to write even a short story? The art of grammar is one foreign to most well EVERYONE! Yes, even you Mr. Big-shot-published-author! Even YOU. I'm Currently writing a story, I'll probably create a new blog to share these stories. My latest story would nee you to under stand the story of Robert Browning and Elizabeth Barrett-Browning: during the Victorian era a girl named Elizabeth (affectionately know as Ba.) was the eldest of a family of twelve. With eleven sibling, eight brothers, three sisters. Her brother Edward died, she was devoted to him, she took it rather badly and became an invalid for about five years after that. Robert Browning read some of her poems and fell in love with her. After correspondance the eloped to Italywith the help of Wilson, the family maid.

My story takes place during this time but adds another character Florence Conway to help them elope.

enough about that, here are some tips I live by to write.
1. NEVER NEVER EVER confuse you're and your
2. Be careful of there, their, and they're
3. ALWAYS have someone check your work!

Even once you read this you'll probably find errors but you know WHAT IT'S A BLOG.

And a couple of thoughts, the answers to all your problems in 42 and, ever had a contact break in half IN YOUR EYE... I have....
