TIME FOR YOUR SCHEDUALED YOUTUBE BREAK

So recent;y I have watched the BBC version of the play Hamlet with David Tennant and Patrick Stewart. I WAS AMAZING YOU NEED TO WATCH IT.

Nothing much else going on right now. But I figured you people could use a break after dealing with HFS for a while there.

The 100th Post!

I called it! Just saying. This is the 100th post on The Goblin Revolt. While I do acknowledge that I only contributed about three posts in the entirety of the blog I still feel obligated to slip in front of those who have worked hard, but waited to long and have missed their chance. I will now astound and amaze you with my ability to draw the common eye upon my brilliant words.

With nothing better to speak of, I shall turn my attention to the upcoming fall, and beginning of school season. I merely wish to give my advice and encouragement to those of you entering into the halls of the eagerly awaiting buildings of mandatory learning. Good luck all. You will need it. Trust me. You will.

In other news I have found a new song that I find acceptable. Please hold your gasps of surprise and dramatic sputtering until the duck. The song is in french: Berceuse Bancale by Jessica Fichot.

I will also recommend one of my only other songs that I like from the 30 songs I own. This one is in Japanese: Suna no Oshiro by Kanon Wakeshima.

Au revoir peasents, and until we blog again. In the meantime enjoy this invisible picture of a duck, because I have yet to learn how to insert illustrations into my narrations. I also have yet to learn how to make tags, or pie. I still can't make pie. Strawberry rhubarb pie. Mmmmmmmm.Scratch that, I figured out tags, but not pictures, and I still love pie.

On Carmen:

Well I was under enthused. It really was too sexual in all. The music was great but by the end of it I was just glad they were dead. But when I say too sexual I mean it. However, done right it could have been good. The costumes and scenery were good, the voices were good, and the story line was good. The sexual dancing..... not so much. I'm sorry to report that this was what mostly caught my eye. More from HFS in comments.

Camping

Yes that's right, camping. The great outdoors, the feeling of one with nature, the mosquitoes. Yep the mosquitoes are killer this year. They are EVERYWHERE. (for some reason the image of the urbanite with a bag full of bug spray comes to mind. Either that or Niles Crane spraying bug dope everywhere.) But the mosquitoes are really bad. Plus if you add on the fact there are forest fires and that means road detours this is gonna be one very long trip. It's also supposed to be cloudy on Monday when we're leaving and that'll be nice since it'll stay cool(er). It's been getting up to ninety in the shade and that's been real tough on a gal who's only ever really been used to 70-80 degree summers. But the scenery will be nice considering how we'll be driving from interior Alaska to southern Alaska.

We're going to Valdez, a port town in southern Alaska known for it's tourist appeal and the fact it's main industry is fishing. Luckily since it's by the ocean the summer there will be more moderate. But it also entails a higher chance of rain. But the fishing industry is (as Mr. Spock would say) fascinating.

The smoke from the fires makes everything a bit hazy and orange-y. Much to my chagrin as it makes it harder to breath. That's always swell huh? The heat has also not helped this problem by making it muggy in the area where I live. Still making it hard to breath. I've been staying inside and avoiding being eaten alive and breathing in forest fire smoke. It's also ridiculously hot. Sleeping in a t-shirt is what I've been needing to do.

But whilst camping I'm not without the few things I'll need badly, notebook and pen, ipod and headphones, The Help by Kathryn Stockett, and aspirin for my head. And maybe for the drive a thermos of hot tea could be nice.

Youtube Time!!!

Well it's been a while since I've done a youtube post. And luckily I've spent some time compiling vids.

Here:

Love this video, Neil Finn looks so hot....

This is a corny 1960's Beatle "Saturday Morning" cartoon thing. I like this one especially. Why does Paul even in cartoon form have to look prettier than me?

Watched this show growing up. Those who are avid Beatle listeners in my audience should get this it especially helps if you know more about them than just the music. For example, their pasts before they were super famous and what happened after the band. It'll make Moko Jono more funny. (BTW the reporter is named Pete Best! That's super funny right. Please tell me if any one else who watches this gets the reporters name.)

Possibly the best theme song ever.

Second best eulogy after Data's. Which I've already posted but I shall re-post:

Which is hilarious.

It's Mocking Me

Well the April Fool's on us from Mother Nature. It's come a little late of course but all the same she gave us one. Now I don't know if any of my readers live here in Alaska. I really don't. But either way we've been having splendid weather here. Warm for AK standards, comfortable, snow's been melting, spring was here. Mother nature backhanded us and made it snow. It's snowing RIGHT NOW. Not kidding, "April showers will come so they say. But they don't and it's may.*" Story of every winter in AK. Just thought I'd update you. *smile*

Happy Belated Birthday!

While I know it was Sunday/ Monday I'd like to dedicate this post to a certain Beatle named George Harrison. A great man. He was the first Beatle to meet another one. He and Paul went to the same school and met on the bus. John went to the school too but they didn't meet him until later. He was the youngest of them all and joined the group The Quarry Men at fourteen. The group consisted of Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Stu Sutcliff, and Pete best. All the others were fifteen or sixteen. When the others were eighteen they went to Hamburg, Germany. George was there illegally. There they saw another group called Rory Storm and the Hurricanes and there they found Richard Starkey or Ringo Starr. They made a success there and became famous. They changed their name to The Silver Beatles and then The Beatles. I say Sunday/ Monday because most of George's life he thought his birthday was the 25th, even though records do show he was born on the 24th. In the late 60's he became engulfed in Indian culture and dedicated his life to this culture. He died in 2001 from cancer. Most likely from smoking. Some more facts:
  • He met his first wife Pattie while working on the movie "A Hard Day's Night"
  • She left him for his friend Eric Clapton. for which he divorced her
  • He met his second wife Olivia and were married until his death
  • He and Olivia had one son, Dhani Harrison. Which is a tribute to how much he loved Eastern culture.
  • He loved "Monty Pythons Flying Circus" and was good friends with Eric Idol
  • He loved to garden
  • He wrote/ sang some of the best Beatle songs
  • He's my favorite
  • He was from Liverpool like all the other members of the band
  • Seriously they were ALL from Liverpool

S.A.D Day

Singles Awareness Day Day.

The most horrid, over rated, worst holiday of the year. I despise Valentines Day. I just do I hate it. The only good thing about it is Chocolate. I really like chocolate. I mean TV always makes Valentines Day out to be something spectacular. But even if you do all that stuff how could you top that next year. I've been blaring my depressing music and Beatles love songs all day. Ahh the sadness of my life. Don't worry I wont bitch to you about it. And if you have some significant other: don't really care about the awesomeness of your Valentines Day. I've got an excruciating chocolate headache right now. Oooh Big Bang Theory tonight! I get to watch the Valentines Day episode of Wings. So it's not all a bust. Sorry about not posting but 1) My internet's been down and it's hard to post if you y'know... can't and 2) I have had nothing to post about NOTHING!!!! I'm gonna go lie down, take a Tylenol, and think about how great life is.

(P. S. This song is just great has nothing to do with today. Well except heard it today listen:
Enjoy)

Beware

1. When you were growing up (or now), who were your nerd heroes?
John and Hank Green, Dr. McCoy, Spock, Kirk, Q, Luke Skywalker, The Vision, The Scarlet Witch, Batman, Pre-Power Peter Parker, Dr. Strange, Cloak and Dagger, Douglas Adams, Nathan Fillian, Joss Whedon, Gene Rodenberry, The Doctor, the entire cast of Firefly, Neil Gaimen, Steve Moffat...

2. I just heard someone use the phrase, "I wish I could un-see that!" If you had the power to actually un-see any one thing, what would it be?
The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins sung by Leonard Nimoy
 Now for your viewing pleasure:

3. Is there a city, state, or country you've never actually been to, but you always thought you really belonged there?
 Yes, England

4. Let's say you inherited a wildly profitable sports franchise that your family has been running for 40 years. You could either stick around and run it yourself or sell it and pocket a huge chunk of money. (For our purposes, we'll say your personal share would be $750 million after taxes.) Would you continue running the family business or go enjoy your windfall?
Enjoy the windfall

I have discovered Firefly! It's great awesome. You guys should check it out. It's on netflix!

A Conversation

Robbo does this occasionally. And one of these things happened to me today. So here:

Friend: Hey

Me: Hey

Friend (points to picture on my desk): Who's that?

Me: Audrey Hepburn (I keep it for inspiration)

Friend: Cool (walks away)

Strange huh?

******

I'm a mug-addict. I love to buy mugs. So I went to Barnes and Noble today. I found the greatest mug. I found a Jane Eyre mug! YES! I'm also a Jane Eyre addict and have read the book 7 times and seen the mini-series three times. Then I went and bought a book. I'm beginning to start stacking on my floor. I refuse to buy a bookshelf though. They're too expensive and I'd rather spend that money on books.

******

Few people know this but I love The Lord of The Rings Trilogy and the prequel The Hobbit. The Hobbit is my favorite by far. But I don't like the movies. I hate Peter Jackson and what he did to the books. I have purposely avoided seeing the movie. But recently I have learned that Neil Finn has done a song for the movie. I avoid going to the theater or buying them because that helps line Peter Jackson's pocket. But I really want to go the The Hobbit to hear the song (even though I already have it on itunes) and therefore give money to Finn. What to do...

You're Daily Errrrrr... Monthly Dose Of Youtube!

One of my favorite Pogues songs:

These two are from a local girl who lives in Fairbanks. I met her once at a farmers market and she was selling CD's. Mariah Ver Hoef is a pretty amazing gal.

A cute little song about tea:

This is the  video that I discovered Library Thing. "In my Pants" is a Nerdfighter thing. So if you want to learn to duke it out Shakespear style this  is a video for you. P.S. This is John:

Here's Johns brother Hank.

And here's the Nerdfighter FAQ:

A mommy hugging her baby:

 A Weeping Angel kitty:

So there's a video for everyone. A video for people who like rock (Pogues), People who prefer local folksy music (Mariah Ver Hoef), People who like little ditties that really aren't bad (Tea Tea Tea Tea Tea Song), Nerds/ Geeks (isn't it obvious?), those who like a daily dose of cute (Kitty Hugging), and Whovians (Weeping Angel Kitty).

What a Glorious Feelin'

So yesterday I went and saw a special showing of Singin' In The Rain, it was really magical. Seeing Gene Kelly on the big screen was really cool. I love that movie.

The premise of the trouble of talking pictures is pretty interesting. I really like how you don't know what Lina sounds like for about ten minutes. then her voice is so different than she looks.

The musical numbers are great "Make Em' Laugh," "Would You," "Singin' in The Rain," and "Good Mornin'" are some really great songs.

Some parts are really strange though, such as "Broadway Rhythm" and "The Dance of The Veil." those are the really out there ones.

I like how at the beginning when we learn Don's story we see what actually happened. While he makes up a puff piece for the fans.

Good Mornin'!
Then after the movie I had to do MORE Christmas shopping, I'm currently making and wrapping the gifts. Gotta finish that, so bye!

Christmas.

So, yesterday I accomplished all my Christmas gift shopping and wrapping. I had to go to Pier 1 Imports, Barnes and Noble, and Fred Meyer. It was a long but fun day. I'm quite happy with the gifts I bought for everyone, I bought my mother some spa stuff, I got my dad a world calender, I got my friend Jordyn (a girl) some earrings since she just had her ear pierced, for my friend Justin (girl) a funny monkey mug, and for my other friend Taylor a faerie calender, a monkey bookmark and a little glass monkey statue. And for the cards I'm sending out I got this:
Okay so it's not very a very clear picture. But the cards pretty cool right?
Okay one last thing for today. During the Christmas season I'll be gone quite a bit so okay just a bit of forewarning. But I have the goblins making cookies, finger sandwiches, a pot of coffee, tea, and cocoa, there'll also be some spirits, and eggnog, a Christmas tree their decorating, and cheese and crackers, some sweets and snacks for you while I'm gone. But it's not ready yet. The goblins might even play some music for you. But that's for while I'm gone.

An Election, and Some Music to Sooth My Soul.

Well whoop-di-do for Obama(nation) he's here for four more horrid years. Yay for the state of our nation we're really going to make it with HIM. In office. Check out this article on seceding. Well for what it's worth I hope Obama is unable to do anything because congress prevents him. Well when he cut into my Jeopardy time I'll just get really made like I have for the last four frikken' years.

So I've found a really good new group called Celtic Woman. I love their music. It's so soothing and beautiful. It's a good combination of Celtic folk and modern pop. Here are some videos:

Smart Music

I recently purchased a thing called Smart Music. It's pretty cool. They have a lot of music and I'm really excited to start playing/ Singing. They have vocal songs from musicals and Cole Porter. However, they don't have all the songs I'd like them to have. But I guess I'll live. I forgot hoe fun it was to blog.

Robert Browning

I recently downloaded the musical Robert and Elizabeth. I think it's wonderful. He's fighting for position as #1 poet against Robert Frost. So today at the library I got a book of Browning poems. I haven't read them yet. But I plan to.

******
Tonight (tonight it all began tonight...) On PBS (9.1) the Vienna Symphony Orchestra is playing a 9p.m. Alaska Time. My Mother and I are going to watch it together. Yay!

Finally, I'm reading The Lionesses Song Quartet by Tamora Pierce. It's fantasy and it's so far really good. Even though I'm only on the first book. I would recommend it.

Movies!

I've been watching a lot of movies lately. #1 on our list is

My Week With Marilyn-
A very good movie. It is sort of documentary style. The woman who played Monroe was very good at it and the lipsyncing was really well done. A fun romp if ever there was one. The only reason it'a rated R is they drop the F-bomb several times.

2. The Children's Hour-
An Audrey Hepburn movie, very well produced and yet such a sad story. A movie about two school teachers who are. both women and friends. And a terrible lie about them being lesbians ruins their reputations. Though it's not true Martha (not Hepburn) does like her like that. And Karen's (Hepburn) fiancĂ© leaves her. No spoilers but a sad yet good movie.

Finally #3, Gypsy-
A okay movie about a doting stage mother, a dying vaudeville scene, and a troupe. Or was a so so. Not the best roles for anyone. But a well done production, songs, and acting. My favorite song was Rose's Turn.

La Boheme

I saw my fist opera last Saturday. I went with my mother to see La Boheme (The Bohemians.) It was put on by FLOT (Fairbanks Light Opera Theater.) They Project the English translations above the stage. I thought it was beautiful. It was funny and sad. The costumes were very good such as in act four when Musetta comes and tells them Mimi is dying Mimi comes up and her dress has rusty red spots on it to simulate the fact that she has TB and is coughing up blood. The songs were great and it was magical. It was great even if I didn't understand what they were saying. However the last act was sad when Rodolfo trys to warm her "small cold hands" because he talked about it earlier. It was just a wonderful evening. My mother during intermission was complaining that that never do Carmen we then looked at the other side of our programs and we saw that they're doing Carmen next year. So my mom and I promised each other we would see Carmen next year. Going to the opera was fun not only seeing it but getting to dress up. Puccini (he wrote La Boheme) writes magical operas.
